Nothing calls a new painting into being better than a blank canvas. Once we were able to shift our mindset from “let’s fix the broken thing” to “let’s create something new,” the energy shifted. We each took time to envision a workplace that we WANTED to be a part of. Our guiding questions extended beyond what would we do, and whom would we serve, and included more philosophical and sensory questions like “How would it feel when we came into work each day?” and “How would we relate to each other?” We shared our visions and noticed overlaps. Even in this time of uncertainty, we all shared a desire to learn, expand our network of collaborators, and serve people with useful technology.

The new landscape of the tech industry is still in formation. It’s not yet a stable place to build something new. So how can we move ahead, not knowing where we’ll end up?
If we, industry insiders, felt overwhelmed by the pace of change, we knew that our clients would be feeling that insecurity even more.
At this point, the best move seems to be to double down on: learning what’s out there, playing with it, and sharing what we’ve learned – with each other, and beyond. By staying one step ahead, we can help cut a path through the wild jungle of technology, so everyone following in our footsteps can see that someone is there with them, making things a little bit easier.
With this new direction, we needed a new identity. Something more substantial, indicating not just a new logo, but a new soul. We began brainstorming new names.
